Planning a summer wedding? Well here at Nosegay we’ve got some dos and don’ts for you for this summer.

Do save the date! Lots of people plan vacations before the summer starts. Make sure you get your wedding on their calendar ASAP. Send your save the dates out even earlier than when you would if it’s a non-summer wedding.

Don’t spend the whole time worrying about the weather. Any time of the year the weather can be unpredictable and the summer is no different. Of course, it could rain but during the winter it could snow. Don’t let worrying about the weather get in the way of enjoying the preparations and this wonderful time in your life.

Do have a back-up plan for the weather! It could be a tent or an option to be inside but me sure there is some sort of plan. Of course those outdoor summer weddings provide a beautiful backdrop for the pictures but the most important part is the actual event, not the weather. The last thing you want to do on the day of your wedding is to be panicking about the weather.

Don’t pick dark colors. Now there are exceptions to this but if you are doing the full “flirty” summer wedding theme pick light colors to keep the mood fresh. Pastels and other light colors are the perfect way to keep things summery. This is important when thinking about bridesmaids dresses as well as flowers.

Do have peonies! Our readers say they are the flower that are in for the summer. It’s all about the peonies in summer 2014. The good news is if you’re looking for peonies for your wedding or any other types of flowers call Nosegay for wedding florists Washington, D.C.

Don’t forget about the heat. It’s important to remember when you are having a summer wedding the heat will be a factor in your guests’ experience. Plan accordingly. Keep that in mind when you think about what time to start the ceremony if it’s outside. You don’t want your guests sitting outside in the middle of the day during the hottest time of the day. Make sure you have a way to keep your guests cool.

Do go over the top when picking flowers for the day. Wedding bouquets and centerpieces are the perfect way to create the perfect summer mood for your wedding.

Hope these tips are helpful as you think about planning your summer wedding. It’s a great time to have a wedding and the most important thing is you to take time to enjoy it! X
