Hello D.C. Nosegay readers! It’s our favorite time of year again...D.C. Restaurant week. Mark your calendars for August 11 - 17, 2014 and start doing your research to make some reservations. We know all of our readers may not be as familiar with D.C. Restaurant Week but it’s certainly a time in the city to take advantage. Lots of great deals and you’ll get to eat at some great restaurants that you may not normally go to. The great news is even though it’s seven days long, you actually have double the opportunity since most restaurants participate for both lunch and dinner. In the spirit of restaurant and sharing advice, we thought we would pass along some tips to our Nosegay fans.

  1. Make sure you get bang for your buck. There are a lot of great deals out there for restaurants you wouldn’t eat at everyday. Take advantage! Since there is a price fixed menu make sure you aren’t paying more at a restaurant than you would normally on a regular evening. Go some place fancier where you are guaranteed to have your money go far and end up paying less than you would on a non-restaurant week night.
  2. Try a new neighborhood. This is a great opportunity to get out of the neighborhood you normally eat in. Tired of going to to the same restaurants on the same streets over and over? Well, hit up a new street this week. If you normally go out on U Street, try Capitol Hill. If you normally eat out in Dupont Circle, head over to Chinatown...get out there!
  3. It’s time to make a reservation! These restaurants fill up fast, so do your research http://www.ramw.org/restaurantweek and make a reservation quick! Prime times and popular restaurants will fill up before you know it.
  4. It’s a good excuse to see friends. If you’re like us and find it hard to meet up with friends during the week, use D.C. Restaurant Week as an excuse and make a plan now! Everyone is traveling so much in the summer, it’s a great way to find a reason to meet up with people you enjoy spending time with.
  5. Can’t pick just one restaurant? Good news is you don’t have to! There are over 200 restaurants to choose from so go through the list make multiple reservations throughout the week.
  6. Been dying to try that restaurant? Well restaurant week is a great reason to get over there. The restaurant will be ready for a rush these nights so you’re guaranteed great service and great food. They will definitely be on their A game this week! They may even have specials you wouldn’t normally be able to get on the menu.
  7. Not going to be around that week in August? Well, the good news is a lot of restaurants will extend restaurant week beyond the 17th. Make sure you do your research first and find out which ones and then feel free to make a reservation in advance.
  8. Looking for a gift for someone? A gift card to one of the featured restaurants with a reminder about restaurant week is a great gift to send out across the next few weeks. Perfect for someone hosting you over for dinner or someone you just want to say “thank you” or “congratulations” to. It’s even a great thing to add to a Nosegay Delicious Delights gift baskets D.C. or a beautiful D.C. floral arrangement
  9. Celebrating a birthday? Have a friend of family members’ birthday coming up? Well D.C. Restaurant Week is the perfect way to celebrate. Make a reservation now and let them know so they have someone to look forward to. Don’t forget to bring the birthday flowers to dinner to add a special touch to the night.
  10. Have friends in town? We know there are a lot of visitors in D.C., especially in the summer months. Use this as the perfect reason to get out of your routine and take them to a restaurant you’ve been dying to try. They’ll love the atmosphere and getting to see all the D.C. people.
Hope you enjoyed all our D.C. Restaurant Week advice. Make sure you don’t miss out on this wonderful time in the city so make sure to make your reservations now before there are none left! X
