We’ve been seeing a trend start amongst brides that we’ve worked with in the last few years. They want their dream wedding and they want it in six months. Now some of you might be asking yourself, how is that possible? Traditionally, weddings take at least 12-18 months to plan. Not anymore! And not for that modern day bride and groom that don’t want to wait an additional 12 months before getting to tie the knot. Couples now-a-days are staying together for much longer before getting engaged which we think is contributing to the “quick” wedding trend. What’s the point of waiting a whole year to get married when you’ve already been together for five? Well, we’ve got some tips for you when it comes to planning a quicker wedding than your average bride.
Get your wedding party organized. The reason why we say this is these are the people that are here to help when it comes to planning your wedding! Start to delegate items to your family, maid of honor and bridesmaids. Have them make appointments for your, help with decisions to be made, picking out flowers and entertainment and so much more.
Figure out your venue. So much of the wedding can’t get organized without knowing where you are going to do it. Now keep in mind, a lot of the popular venues books years in advance which is one of the main reasons weddings take so long to happen. This takes us to our next tip for you…
Be flexible. You need to decide early on what is more important: the timeline or every single detail you think you want for your wedding. You often won’t be able to do both. So if a quick wedding is important to you, you’ll need to be flexible with things like venues and entertainment.
The less people the better. A quick wedding will be tough to organize if you are planning on inviting a million people. Think about your guest list and what’s doable in such a short time frame. You don’t want to insult anyone but there is also something nice about keeping the guest list intimate.
Hire someone! This is the best piece of advice that we can give you. We know you want to be in control of planning your wedding but the good news is you can do just that even when you have a wedding planner. You’ve likely never planned a wedding before and they plan a wedding every weekend! Take advantage of their expertise.
