Before the summer is over, we want to make sure our readers get to do some of our favorite outdoor (and some indoor) activities. We know D.C. is notorious for hot and humid summers but we want to make sure you can jam it packed with fun activities so you don’t even notice the heat! Below are some of our favorite activities to do with friends and family this summer.
Go to a ball game! Whether it’s a Nationals’ game or an Orioles’ game, it’s always fun to be at the ballpark during the summer. This is a great activity to do with friends or family, especially when you have visitors in town. It takes up 4-5 hours and is always full of great food and entertainment.
Hillwood Estate and Gardens. We know we always find a way to make it about flowers but you have not seen amazing flowers until you’ve been to this estate. There is no comparison to a beautiful floral bouquet and theses gardens in D.C. We didn’t even know this place existed until a few years ago but definitely a place you want to see if you are visiting or if you live here!
Jazz in the Garden. This is an amazing event that happens in D.C. every Friday from May until August. And the best news…it’s free! It’s in the Sculpture Garden every Friday from 5:30-8:30pm. Don’t wait too long though. The last Jazz in the Garden show happens August 28th. Check out the schedule and make a plan to go!
Be on the water! Whether it’s heading to Annapolis, Baltimore or just sitting out by the Georgetown Waterfront, make sure you are spending time this summer on the water. The closer you are to the water during the summertime, the better chance you have at eating some amazing seafood. Remember, that Maryland is known for its crabs in the summer!
Union Market. This is one of our favorite open and outdoor markets in D.C and there is no better time to stop by but the summer. Its open every Saturday and Sunday from 8am-8pm. Plan to spend a few hours there and make sure you come hungry! There are great options there for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Hope you enjoyed our summer suggestions! If you want even more check out our other blog on D.C. summer activities. We’ve got a ton of stuff for you to do. Make sure when you are in D.C. that you stop by local D.C. florist Nosegay and say hello! We love meeting our customers.
