See Where We Deliver

Bored of doing the same thing every year for Father’s Day? Well, this is the year to try a new activity with your dad! There are so many fun ways to spend the day outdoors in D.C. to celebrate, so take advantage of our list below. Enjoy!

Monuments: There are beautiful monuments throughout the city, and if you go from one to the next, you also get a beautiful tour of the city. It’s the perfect way to spend the day outside while also enjoying the history of D.C.

Pack a picnic: No better way to spend the day with your dad than outside and having lunch while enjoying this beautiful city. All you have to do is go to the grocery store, pick up a few of his favorite food items, grab a blanket, and head to a spot in the city to spend the day.

Memorials: In addition to all the great monuments throughout the city, there are also picturesque memorials all over. It’s easy to see every memorial during a day or an entire weekend. Pick your favorites and go on an exploration with your dad!

Capital Bikeshare: Wondering what is the best way to see D.C. and spend the day with your dad? You guessed it! Grab a helmet, rent a bike, and spend the day biking throughout the city. You can start off anywhere in the city (or Maryland or Virginia) and bike everywhere!

Hiking Great Falls: Does your dad like to get his sweat on while spending time with you? Then Great Falls is the activity for you! It lets you see a side of the city that you don’t normally get to enjoy in the hustle and bustle of downtown.

Museums: Alright, we know this is technically not outside, but you can’t talk about a day in D.C. without mentioning all the wonderful museums the city has to offer. Also, if you go to more than one museum throughout the day, you will definitely spend a good portion of your day walking outside getting to see the city. If your dad enjoys museums, there are plenty to pick from!

Deluxe Succulent Box. Succulents are some of the best gifts, especially for those special men and black thumbed people in your life! These luscious little drought tolerant plants will last much longer than cut flowers.  They make a great decoration for someone's desk or office, adding a pop of natural green and fun textures to liven up any space.  Let us arrange a special concrete box succulent arrangement for you today! We also have a medium sized succulent if you are looking to not make as big of a statement.

Electronics. You can never go wrong when it comes to electronics for your Dad this Father’s Day. It’s important you figure out the right electronic but we promise your Dad will like it regardless. Some good ideas this Father’s Day are a Fitbit, any Apple product or new cool headphones. Make your dad trendy again!

Chocolates. Nosegay is proud to provide the highest quality in handmade chocolates.  We feature hand-made chocolates from Sweet Shop USA and sinfully delicious, imported Godiva Chocolates from Belgium. These wonderfully decadent delicacies are shipped to our flower shop weekly to assure that the freshest, most delicious treats accompany your floral bouquets. A nice dinner or brunch. We know when it comes to family dinners Dads usually get stuck with the bill. This year why don’t you make a special reservation somewhere and then treat your dad to a nice dinner or brunch. There are so many options to choose from!

We hope you all enjoy your upcoming Father’s Day and that your Dad gets a great gift from you! Remember, you can always call Nosegay and order a custom arrangement for any occasion, including for Father’s Day.

There are so many amazing things to do in D.C. in the summer that we are so glad that Father’s Day is happening tomorrow. It gives us a reason to get outside and explore the city! Here are a few suggestions of fun activities to do with your Dad if you are planning on being with him in the D.C. area tomorrow. Enjoy!

The Athletic Dad: If you your Dad is on the athletic side and loves to be outside or get a good sweat going there are a lot of fun things to do on Sunday. We’d suggest going for a hike on the Billy Goat Trail, either on the Maryland or Virginia side. It’s a fun way to spend the day and you can end your hike over looking The Great Falls. If he’s not in the mood for that, you can always go on a regular walk around the city and go to see the monuments on the National Mall. Or head over to a fun SoulCycle class together or Flywheel.

The Intellectual Dad: This is the perfect city for your dad if he loves museums and history. There are so many amazing sights to see! Our favorite museums in the D.C. area are the Natural History Museum and the Newseum. There are also lots of great places to grab a bite near the museums so make a whole day of it.

The Foodie Dad: So many of our Dads out there love to eat! So let them do just that on Father’s Day this year. Pick one of the many hot new restaurants in D.C. and let him dine and wine all night.

The Wine-o Dad: Dads love wines and the great news is there are a lot of amazing vineyards you wouldn’t even know about in Virginia. Head over to Virginia early in the day and experience some of the best vineyards that the East Coast has to offer.

Now for all the kids out there that aren’t going to be with their Dads this year on Father’s Day, consider sending your Dad a D.C. gift basket. They’ve got so many fun treats inside of the gift baskets that your Dad will be beaming and forget all about not being with you on Father’s Day. Amazing chocolates, olive oils, fresh fruits and so much more can be included in the gift baskets. You can customize what you want to send! Another great thing to send to your Dad on Father’s Day? How about a plant. Local D.C. florists, like Nosegay, have amazing plants to order and send that can be delivered the same day your order them. It’s perfect for your Dad’s office. Check them out!

One of our favorite holidays is right around the corner. This Sunday, June 15th, we will celebrate Father’s Day with all the wonderful Dads out there. It’s time to give back to them and let your favorite guy know how much you care.

  1. GOLF: What Dad doesn’t like golf? Not any that I know! It all about nature, relaxing and competition. Whether it’s a new club he’s been eyeing or a lesson at a local golf club, you really can’t go wrong with this idea.
  2. A nice new...tie? pair of shoes? Anything clothing related can be a great addition to a Father’s wardrobe. The best part? Every time he wears it he will think of you.
  3. Watch: We know the Dads out there love this accessory. It’s a staple in most Dads every day. Doesn’t necessarily have to be expensive but if you are interested in splurging then you can definitely do that with a watch. Lots of great options out there. Try something out of the box that he wouldn’t buy himself.
  4. A Father’s Day Balloon: it’s the thought that count. A special balloon and nice card can go a long way on this holiday. Send it to his office so everyone else can see how much you love your Dad. A Father’s Day 2014 balloon can be a special treat.
  5. Electronics: We know a lot of Fathers out there that love their electronics. Maybe it’s a new set of speakers, iPad, headphones, the options are endless!
  6. Gift Basket: Remember our post from a few weeks ago? Well the good news is that it’s easy to make your own gift basket. Just make sure it’s special for what your Dad loves. Otherwise, there are lots of great gift baskets DC ready and easy to send!
  7. Concert/Show: Maybe instead of a gift, it’s a special night you can spend with your Dad. Is there a band he loves or a show he’s been dying to see? Buy these tickets in advance of Father’s Day and hand them over this Sunday. He will sure to be surprised.
  8. Flowers: I know this may be a bit unconventional but the times they are a changing. It’s totally appropriate to send a man flowers in this day and age. And there are many same day delivery flowers that would be perfect for the occasion.
  9. Tools: Is your Dad particularly handy? Does he like to get his hands dirty and work on home projects? If the answer is yes then definitely go the hardware route. This type of gift is perfect for a lot of Dads out there.
  10. Food & Drink: Some of our favorite Fathers are foodies at heart. Maybe they’ll love a nice bottle of wine they wouldn’t normally treat themselves to or maybe there is a new restaurant they’ve been wanting to try. Whatever it is these types of gifts can be a great and easy gift to get. We know a lot of Dads out there will appreciate it!

Hope you enjoyed our blog this week from the Nosegay team. We know Dads everywhere will be happy with their gifts after this post.
