See Where We Deliver

Hope everyone is gearing up for a lovely Valentine’s Day. We know it’s still a few weeks away but you don’t want to wait too long to get organized. Whether you are in a relationship or not this year, it’s important to know what gifts to be giving. We thought we would give our readers some suggestions when it comes to gift giving this year. We have options for both men and women as it’s important that each member of the relationship gets an awesome gift. Enjoy our suggestions!

  • Jewelry. Hate to break it to everyone out there but you really can’t go wrong with jewelry this year. Doesn’t need to be anything fancy or covered in diamond but it’s an easy way to say “I love you” and I want you to wear this and think of me. Did we mention that women love diamonds?
  • Something mushy. This is the one time of year when it’s appropriate to be mushy and make your emotions known. Take advantage of it! Get something engraved, buy something that already says it...whatever it is make sure your emotions come through with your gift.
  • Go somewhere together. Is there something you’ve been meaning to do together but haven’t gotten around to it? Like maybe a cooking class or a wine tasting? This is the perfect way to give a great gift that you both get to enjoy.
  • FLOWERS. Now we can’t talk about Valentine’s Day without mentioning the elephant (I mean bouquet) in the room and that’s flowers! There are so many beautiful Valentine’s Day flower options and luckily the majority of D.C. flower shops have same day online flower delivery. However, we suggest planning in advance and picking out the perfect bouquet.
  • Time for the spa. Every girl loves a good spa day. Maybe it’s just a manicure and maybe it’s a full blown day at the spa with a massage and everything else she could want. And if you really want to make it special...join her!

  • Gadgets, gadgets, gadgets. Men love a good piece of technology. Don’t under appreciate their reaction to the coolest new ipad, speakers, or anything else they have been talking about. Did we mention wireless headphones?
  • What do they like to drink? There are many different ways to say “I love you” based on what they like to drink. For example, maybe it’s a a new glass to drink his whiskey in, or special ice cubes (you know what we are talking about) to keep his drink cool or maybe it’s just a bottle of whiskey or nice wine. Whatever it is we know your guy will love it. Don’t forget about the flask option! Get it engraved and make it extra special.
  • The way to his heart is in his...stomach! Ever heard that saying before? So have we! Men love a nice dinner and especially when it’s cooked by their loved one. Maybe Valentine’s Day this year is more about the meal you prepare than the gift you give. Not good in the kitchen? No problem! Head to one of the amazing new restaurants in D.C.
  • Does he have a hobby? Start with what it is and go from there...maybe it’s more running gear, or new golf shoes, whatever it is you can’t go wrong if it’s for something he already loves to do.
  • Time to escape! All men love to get away so maybe for this year’s holiday you take that trip that you’ve been talking about for months. Doesn’t need to be anywhere fancy...maybe it’s just a quick one night road trip but either way it’s a special way to celebrate.

Now remember this upcoming Valentine’s Day to think of Nosegay flower shop when making your flower orders. Never too early to start planning!

Have our readers noticed that everyone (and their mother) seems to be heading to a Bachelorette Party? Well, if you’re like our DC flower team than you definitely have! Either you are heading on a Bachelorette party or you are just returning from one this summer. We’ve put together a list of some helpful tips when it comes to planning a fun Bachelorette Party for summer season.

  • Themes, themes and more themes: If you are someone that’s not afraid of being “cheesy” take advantage of this occasion because it’s definitely a great opportunity to break out the use of a theme. The first (and most important) place to start for the theme is all about the hashtag, lots of creative ones out there but it should be all based on the wonderful bride (and the groom).
  • Help the Bride Stand Out: A lot of great photo-ops, all start with a night of coordinated outfits. Whether is wearing white or all the guests in black and the bride gets to stand out in white or red, it creates wonderful photos and a great way to make the bride feel special. If you’re like our Nosegayers you may go the sparkle route instead of solid colors but either way, make sure to think ahead and tell the other guests what to bring!
  • It’s Time to Delegate: Whether there are a few of you going on the Bachelorette or a big group, divide and conquer! Have one person or a small group own each meal, a day or an activity. Often the bride’s mom will take care of one of the meals or some other activity but make sure it’s all planned out in advance. Usually the maid of honor will take the reigns here but she will definitely need her fellow bridesmaids and bachelorette goers to help.
  • Let’s Ride in Style: Haven’t seen a bachelorette in a long time that doesn’t have a limo involved. If the bachelorette party is just one night or a fun-filled weekend, make sure a limo is on the agenda. Nothing better than a group of women heading into a limo for some real driving fun. Best part is you get to make sure your bride arrives in style and nobody has to worry about driving home.
  • It’s All About the Favors: No bachelorette party is complete with a handful of favors. Make sure to provide the group with plenty of favors that include reference to the bride whether it’s on a tshirt or sunglasses (or both!). This is a great place to incorporate your theme into your favors. Make sure the favors have something fun written on them. Also for our brides, always nice to bring a favor for your guests to take home from the party to help them remember it. Make sure it’s something they will use. Nosegay flower bouquets or Nosegay DC gift baskets, could make the perfect favor.
  • How to Pick a Date: Depending on how many people are invited to attend, make sure you don’t spend all of your planning time trying to pick a date. Find out from the bride who needs to be there and who could maybe miss it that wouldn’t make them heartbroken...plan around everyone as much as you can but don’t make yourself crazy! Pick a day that the majority can attend and go with it! Also, if you are one of the guests who can’t make it, send some same day delivery flowers to make it up to the bride. The bride will love having these to arrive to when she gets to her room!
  • Timing is everything: It’s all about getting the crew hyped up for the big day. Two things to remember, don’t do it too far away from the wedding date and don’t do it too close. You don’t want to get all excited for the wedding day and then come home and have 12 months to wait. At the same time, don’t do it too close to the wedding because the bride will be stressed with last minute details. It’s also a lot more money to spend right in a row. Take the bride’s guidance when it comes to picking how far in advance she wants to have it but make sure to give her some advice.

That’s another set of useful tips in the books from our Nosegay team. We may not be experts but we do know how to have a good time so hopefully these tips will pay off! Enjoy.

One of our favorite holidays is right around the corner. This Sunday, June 15th, we will celebrate Father’s Day with all the wonderful Dads out there. It’s time to give back to them and let your favorite guy know how much you care.

  1. GOLF: What Dad doesn’t like golf? Not any that I know! It all about nature, relaxing and competition. Whether it’s a new club he’s been eyeing or a lesson at a local golf club, you really can’t go wrong with this idea.
  2. A nice new...tie? pair of shoes? Anything clothing related can be a great addition to a Father’s wardrobe. The best part? Every time he wears it he will think of you.
  3. Watch: We know the Dads out there love this accessory. It’s a staple in most Dads every day. Doesn’t necessarily have to be expensive but if you are interested in splurging then you can definitely do that with a watch. Lots of great options out there. Try something out of the box that he wouldn’t buy himself.
  4. A Father’s Day Balloon: it’s the thought that count. A special balloon and nice card can go a long way on this holiday. Send it to his office so everyone else can see how much you love your Dad. A Father’s Day 2014 balloon can be a special treat.
  5. Electronics: We know a lot of Fathers out there that love their electronics. Maybe it’s a new set of speakers, iPad, headphones, the options are endless!
  6. Gift Basket: Remember our post from a few weeks ago? Well the good news is that it’s easy to make your own gift basket. Just make sure it’s special for what your Dad loves. Otherwise, there are lots of great gift baskets DC ready and easy to send!
  7. Concert/Show: Maybe instead of a gift, it’s a special night you can spend with your Dad. Is there a band he loves or a show he’s been dying to see? Buy these tickets in advance of Father’s Day and hand them over this Sunday. He will sure to be surprised.
  8. Flowers: I know this may be a bit unconventional but the times they are a changing. It’s totally appropriate to send a man flowers in this day and age. And there are many same day delivery flowers that would be perfect for the occasion.
  9. Tools: Is your Dad particularly handy? Does he like to get his hands dirty and work on home projects? If the answer is yes then definitely go the hardware route. This type of gift is perfect for a lot of Dads out there.
  10. Food & Drink: Some of our favorite Fathers are foodies at heart. Maybe they’ll love a nice bottle of wine they wouldn’t normally treat themselves to or maybe there is a new restaurant they’ve been wanting to try. Whatever it is these types of gifts can be a great and easy gift to get. We know a lot of Dads out there will appreciate it!

Hope you enjoyed our blog this week from the Nosegay team. We know Dads everywhere will be happy with their gifts after this post.

It’s that special time of year…Valentine’s Day! We want to make sure our Nosegay family is armed with the perfect amount of information to prepare for celebrating this holiday. Now, of course, like every other Valentine’s Day, it is sure to be filled with lots of chocolates and flowers for Valentine’s Day. We thought we would step outside the flower box for a bit and talk through other ideas for celebrating the holiday. Here are 5 simple steps when it comes to finding the best Valentine’s Day Gift.

  1. Make it about your loved one. There is no such thing as the perfect gift for your loved one. Make sure any gift you get is about them and not the latest and trendiest item. This holiday is romantic for a reason and any gift will mean a lot more if it relates to something their interested in or something you both can enjoy together.
  2. The gift can be your date. Couples often find it hard to prioritize each other during the week whether it’s because of their busy schedules, time with the kids, or anything else that can make Monday-Friday not romantic. Were lucky this year with Valentine’s Day falling on a Friday. Celebrate it together that night or weekend and make that your gift. Whether it’s hiring a babysitter for the evening and trying that restaurant you’ve been dying to eat at or taking a mini road trip that weekend to get out of town, planning something special will go a long way with your loved one.
  3. Talk before the 14th about how much you’re celebrating. Or more importantly, how much you’re spending. Valentine’s Day celebration never turn out good when one partner spends an extravagant amount and the other one made a mixtape (which I guess nowadays is the equivalent of a Spotify playlist). Make sure you both are on the same page of what the plans are, who is planning what, and what level of gifts you’ll be exchanging.
  4. Be romantic. If you’re lucky enough to have someone to celebrate this holiday with, take advantage of it! Don’t let the holiday pass over you without celebrating in some way even if it is just sending flowers.
  5. Our final piece of advice is don’t feel like you can only celebrate Valentine’s Day if you’re in a couple. It’s always fun to send Valentine’s Day cards to close family and friends to let them know you’re thinking of them and vice versa.

Hope you enjoyed our Valentine’s Day piece this week and there is more to come on this special holiday! Remember, don’t procrastinate figuring out what you are doing or how you are celebrating. However, the good news is if you do procrastinate there is always same day flower delivery
