Are you starting to plan a wedding? We know you want to make it perfect weekend and not just one night. There are so many different variables that go into creating the perfect wedding weekend, and it’s not easy to remember them all. We wanted to offer some tips to our readers to help them plan the perfect wedding weekend. Enjoy!

Weekend Itinerary. Keep in mind that your wedding guests have likely not traveled for just one night. If you are having a mid-size to big wedding, there are likely a lot of out of towners visiting for your nuptials. Remember, they don’t know how to spend their time in your town! Plan out the activities for the weekend beyond the ceremony, and make sure you offer plenty of moments of entertainment.

Find some downtime. The whole weekend is going to be busy and chaotic. Make sure you find some time to relax throughout the weekend where you can spend time with your guests. Whether it’s the night before or the day after the wedding, take advantage of having all the people closest to you right at your fingertips!

Keep the drinks flowing! Of course, we want all our guests to remember the weekend, but nothing puts the perfect light on a wedding weekend than delicious cocktails at every turn. It’ll take the edge off a normally stressful weekend.

Don’t forget about the food. One of the main things people will remember about your wedding weekend is how the food was. Make sure that the food during the wedding is perfect as well as during any of the other events happening that weekend. Whether it’s the rehearsal dinner the night before or the brunch the day after, make sure the food is worthy of the weekend.

Keep the party going! No one ever wants the party to end after the wedding…so don’t let it! Plan the perfect after party for your guests at the end of the wedding to keep the party going. Make sure you have the right music and amazing late night food to keep your guests entertained.

We know there are plenty of people out there trying to plan a quick wedding. Despite the traditional 12+ months long engagements, for a lot of couples, that’s not right answer. There are many reasons why you don’t want to wait, but it can often be difficult to plan a traditional wedding in such a short window. However, we’ve got lots of tips for you if you find yourself planning a wedding in less than six months!

Start dress shopping now. Lots of wedding dresses can need up to eight months to be ready after ordering them, so make sure this is the first part of your process. Most likely, if you have a quick turnaround, you won’t be able to have a custom gown made, but there are plenty of dresses that are available off the rack and can be tailored within your time limits.

Find a venue. Plenty of places book up a year in advance, but you’d be surprised how many weekends are still available within close proximity to the date. Keep your options open and look at as many places as you can. You may have to flexible with location or date (maybe a Friday or Sunday will work better), but there should definitely be a venue you love that is still available.

Forget tradition! Couples these days are throwing tradition to the wind and opting for a less traditional wedding. Maybe that means getting married in an exotic location or getting married at the courthouse. There are lots of options available to make it less formal and traditional, if that’s what you want.

Destination wedding. We love a destination wedding as it gives everyone an entire weekend to celebrate the couple. Might be a bit hard to pull off in a quick turnaround, but it might also be the right choice for you.

DIY. There are so many things you can DIY, or “do it yourself,” when it comes to the wedding. This is perfect if you have a short window to prepare. From the flowers to the name cards and everything in between. Start researching so you know what vibe you are going for and can start putting your plan together to “do it yourself.”

We hope you will use Nosegay to celebrate all your wedding needs. We are here for any and all of your wedding flower needs, from bridal bouquets to reception centerpieces. There is one part of a wedding weekend that often gets forgotten about but is a critical part to the entire weekend, the rehearsal dinner. The rehearsal dinner is the official kick-off to the entire wedding weekend and the first event that sets the tone for the rest of the weekend. Although this is a very important event in the itinerary of the entire weekend, it can often feel like the afterthought. We thought we would take a minute to pass on some of our “best practices” as it relates to throwing the perfect rehearsal dinner.

Make it fun. Everyone has traveled far and wide to celebrate the wedding of the couple, so thank them for their travels by giving them something to look forward to the night before the wedding. This can mean different things for different people but can often include things like make sure the booze are flowing, the food is delicious and the entertainment is on point.

The food is important. Your guests have had a long day of travel most likely by the time they arrive at your rehearsal dinner so make sure there is lots of food to start the night off right. You should always pick a place where you have tasted the food before or know people who enjoy it. Don’t pick a random place you know nothing about.

Focus on the ambiance. It’s important to set the mood as it relates the rehearsal dinner. It should be in line with how the wedding will feel and make sure those big themes are embedded in this event as well. It’s also okay for it to feel a bit different. You don’t want to be having two weddings in a row with your rehearsal dinner. If your wedding is very fancy, try making the rehearsal dinner more casual.

Flower power! As you think about ambiance, the vibe of a room is always better when there are flowers are in it. Whether you are using the flowers for your floral centerpieces or just decoration around the room…you can’t go wrong!

We hope you enjoyed our recommendations for throwing the perfect rehearsal dinner before a wedding weekend. Tired of always sending money or a gift from the registry for your friends and family getting married? Although we know these two gifts are always well appreciated by the couple getting married, there are also creative ways to think about your gifts. Keep in mind – being creative with a gift is not always well received so make sure you know the couple well enough to know whether or not they will enjoy it.

Donate to a charity. We all know there are plenty of friends and family out there that would love to see this as one of their gifts for their nuptials. It could be the engagement, bridal shower, bachelorette or actual wedding gift. There are lots of couples that actually put their choices of favorite charities on their wedding websites to make sure people know this is an option.

Honeymoon activity. Most couples start to finalize their honeymoon more than a few months before their actual wedding day. Lots of them will have their travel destinations organized but maybe not their specific activities for their trip…that’s where you come in! Think about their honeymoon destination and do some research on fun activities in the area. Whether it’s a helicopter ride, a vineyard tour or a spa package, you really can’t go wrong by adding to their fun.

A Spa Day. Most couples need some help relaxing before the big day so help them to facilitate that. We know most couples would love nothing more than a spa day right before (or right after) their big day to help them unwind. It’s important to remain as destressed as possible and sometimes they need a push in that direction from their friends and family.

Host a Party in their honor. This is a perfect way to show the couple how much you care without sending a traditional gift from their registry. There are so many different occasions to celebrate leading up to the big day, take your pick of what party to throw! It could be an engagement party, bridal shower or rehearsal dinner. This is definitely a more personal option than a lot of other gift ideas and leaves them with so many memories to cherish!

We are so excited for the 2017 wedding season to be in full swing! Don’t forget to call Nosegay for all your wedding flower needs.

We know plenty of readers out there have been tasked with the role of planning a friend or family member’s upcoming Bachelorette Party (or Bachelor Party). We thought we would add a quick and easy guide to getting the job done well with minimal stress. Let the games begin!

  1. Find a weekend that works for everyone. You can’t do much else in the planning department until you know when you’re going. Depending on how many people you are coordinating with, it might be difficult to find a date that works for EVERYONE. Make sure you know from the bride or groom who are the “must haves” vs. “nice to haves.” We’ve found sending out a “doodle” to everyone can make it easy to coordinate. Make sure you give yourself dates that are far enough away to plan everything before.
  2. Brainstorm locations. Always good to have a list of a few places to go from the bride before you finalize the location. Unless the bride has their heart set on one place, of course! It will be easier that way to then decide what the most cost effective option is if budget is a concern. Some of our favorite Bachelorette Party locations are: Nashville, Austin, Charleston, Napa, Miami and anywhere in the Caribbean.
  3. Check prices. After you find your date and location, you need to check how much everything will cost. That can be the biggest bummer for guests is going somewhere SUPER expensive or people not being able to join because of the price. Keep in mind, airfare (if necessary) and price of where you are staying are only the beginning of what you spend your money on so make sure it’s not too crazy for the guests.
  4. Book a hotel or house to stay in! Make sure you have somewhere to stay and that it’s reserved far enough in advance that you won’t need to stress about that later on.
  5. Decide on favors. It’s always nice for the guests and bride to walk away with some sort of “favor” or “gift” for attending the Bachelorette. This way they will always have something to remember it by. We like monogrammed sunglasses or custom t-shirts as our favorite party favors.
  6. Make reservations. The most stressful thing during a Bachelorette is trying to find a place where everyone can eat together or hang out so make sure you have that planned out in advance. Depending on how big your group is and how popular the location is, you want to make sure you don’t end up some place for dinner that can’t seat you all or you have to wait for two hours to get seated.
  7. Plan games. But not too many! The games are definitely a fun added bonus to just a normal weekend but they can get old after a while. Our suggestion for a weekend is no more than two games to make sure there is enough to do but it doesn’t feel overly orchestrated.
  8. Make sure there is down time. As much as you want to make the most of your trip, you don’t want to overly plan it so that everyone is exhausted and miserable. It’s nice to have natural breaks between day and night time activities so people don’t always feel rushed or tired.

Hope you enjoyed our Nosegay Bachelorette suggestions! Remember, you can always leverage Nosegay for all your flower needs when it comes to your upcoming nuptials.

Since there are a ton of brides out there that are in the beginning stages of planning their weddings, we wanted to make sure we were helping our readers with their planning! We know most couples deal with being able to stick to a budget while still making the occasion fabulous. We know so many couples out there that are paying for their own weddings that it’s important nothing gets too over prices.

There are a couple of things couples can remember as they are planning their nuptials that are critical in making their budget go far. Take a look!

Decide on a budget early. It’s important you know what you are working with before you start deciding on anything for your wedding. You want to make sure that you don’t start getting too excited about things that are ultimately out of your budget. Pick a number in the beginning and stick with it.

What do you care about most. There are a few things in everyone’s weddings that are non-negotiables when it comes to tying the knot. However, they vary for each couple so you want to make sure you know what you need to have no matter what. Maybe it’s a certain venue you’ve always wanted to have or your favorite wedding band, either way make sure you know.

Don’t forget about flowers. Flowers can add a very special touch to a wedding but they don’t need to be overly pricey. We always suggest customers use a local florist because they are much less expensive than using a big flower corporate power house.

Pick a venue first. The venue and food for your guests is going to take up the majority of your budget. It’s always a good idea to pick that early on in the process so you know what’s left in your budget for everything else. Keep in mind, the smaller the guest list, the less expensive the wedding…which brings us to our next tip!

Cut your guest list. Like we said, the smaller the wedding guest list, the farther your budget will go. Since the majority of your budget will go to feeding your guests and fitting them in your venue, cutting the guest list is an easier way to use your budget on other things.

We hope our tips helped as you are thinking about the wedding you are planning. Remember, Nosegay D.C. is here to help with all of your flower needs! Reach out to us today at http://www.nosegayflowers.com.

When it comes to planning a wedding, it’s easy to forget all the other activities that come along with the big day. The bridal shower is an important tradition that most brides will have hosted in their honor before their wedding. However, that doesn’t mean it needs to feel like a second wedding. In the spirit of wedding season coming to an end, we thought we’d share some tips on how to plan a budget friendly bridal shower. We know there tends to be a ton of proposals as it gets close to the holiday season so we want to make sure you are ready for everything that comes along with an engagement!

Do it at someone’s house. The majority of the expense of a bridal shower can come from just renting out a space. Even if it’s a low key restaurant, you can’t control things like how much the food and beverages will cost. You’ll have a lot more freedom at someone’s house anyways when it comes to decorations.

Forget mailing out invites. Not only is that an additional expense but it also takes a ton of time. An email invite does the trick!

The more hosts the better. Having more hosts may seem like more of a hassle but it gives you more people to divide the work and divide the bill. Make sure you are picking the right people (like the bridal party) but always a good idea to have more than a few hosts to split the costs.

Games, games and more games. It’s easy to forget some of the items you didn’t splurge on when you have games to entertain your guests. Don’t go overboard but a few games are always a good idea at a bridal shower.

Make your own food. You don’t have to make everything but since you are doing it at someone’s house, the more people cooking and contributing to the food, the less you have to spend with a vendor. At the very least, make your own desserts!

Don’t forget about the flowers. Now our advice on flowers is that they can make or break things like a bridal shower and a wedding. We would suggest on splurging on this area and reaching out to your local DC florists but make sure they know you are looking for the best deals. We would recommend actually going to the flower shop and seeing what flowers you can get that are most cost effective. If you absolutely want to find a cheaper way to have flowers at your event, we’d recommend seeing what your local grocery store can offer in floral arrangements. You’ll have to put them together yourself but they can still be beautiful!
