See Where We Deliver

News

We know the fall is a popular season to get married and with quite a few weddings happening between now and 2017, we thought we would share some of our favorite fall wedding trends. There are so many fun things to take advantage in the fall that make for a fairy tale wedding. Remember, if you are planning anything outside...the weather can be unpredictable! Make sure to have a plan b option for all outdoor components.

Barns are in. You may have already noticed this trend and it’s not necessarily a new one but there is nothing that says “a rustic fall” wedding more than getting married in a barn. If the couple is a fan of a more alternative “homey” venue than this could be the perfect option for them.

Bold bouquets. We know most weddings these days have muted bouquets with lots of whites, pinks or purples. However, if there is one time to make a bolder statement with your bridal bouquet…it’s the fall! Try lots of bold colors like red, burgundy, deep purple, orange, dark yellow and other bold options.

Circular ceremony. As opposed to the standard two sides of the ceremony, a lot of couples are opting for a more circular ceremony. This way the guests can see the couples’ face during the ceremony as opposed to only seeing their back.

Unique centerpieces. Instead of your standard big floral centerpieces on each table during the reception, weddings this fall are mixing things up. Upcoming fall weddings are choosing to have different centerpieces at each table instead of the same one throughout the whole reception.

Long Tables. We know historically during the reception all of the guests’ table are circular with 8-10 people at each table. However, more and more we are seeing brides and grooms choose different sized tables throughout the room it give the room some variety. Also, more and more couples are including long horizontal tables to create some extra dimension to the room.

Name Cards. Now we know at most weddings the table cards are pretty straight forward. However, with the fall, we’ve seen a lot of creativity come out with the table cards at the wedding. One of our favorites was mini succulents for each guest that had their name and table number sticking in on a clip. It was also the perfect takeaway gift for your guests.

This year it seems like everyone we know is headed to a wedding almost every weekend, especially when it comes to the summer wedding schedule. We thought our readers would appreciate hearing the latest wedding trends when it comes to 2015 nuptials. Expect to see these as you head to the rest of your weddings this year!

Going for a rustic feeling. It’s no longer just about clean lines and a modern feel when it comes to planning a wedding. We know a lot of couples this year that are opting out of your traditional hotel or ballroom type of wedding venue and heading out to the wilderness. Farms, vineyards and other outdoorsy type of venues are becoming very popular for 2015. Make sure to check the weather before heading to one since you will likely be spending the majority of time outdoors!

Alternative seating. You don’t have to pick circle, rectangle or square for your weddings table this year because you can have all three. Standard tables in the wedding venue are no more. Lots of weddings this year are choosing a unique seating option and mixing up the different table options. Get ready for a room filled with circles, squares and rectangles for tables.

Flower crowns. Now this is for our more whimsical bride but a lot of bridal parties and even brides can be seen wearing floral crowns this wedding season. It brings a fun and casual feeling to an intimate occasion.

No more matching bridesmaids. It might be harder to pick out the bridal party at the next wedding you go to because they won't be in matching dresses. Brides have been loosening the reigns a little bit when it comes to picking out bridesmaids dresses for the wedding. Instead a lot of brides this year are picking out a color and telling the bridal party to pick the dress they want…with their approval of course!

Floral Installations. Weddings this year aren’t about the traditional floral scene that you’d expect to see at a wedding with wedding floral centerpieces on every table. A lot of couples this year are choosing the floral installation option…think flowers and centerpiece like arrangements hanging from the ceiling instead. We've also heard a lot of weddings that aren't even having flowers at their wedding. It's crazy, we know!

Metallic is back. Traditional colors aren’t the only thing that you’ll find at weddings this year. For weddings in 2015 it’s all about finding an alternative twist to your special day and brides and grooms are finding this with incorporating metallic this year.

Romantic Flowers. If you’re going to more of a traditional wedding, expect to get a romantic feeling when it comes to the flowers. It’ll be a clean look, mostly white maybe with some light pinks.

For many readers that will be attending weddings this year instead of hosting their own, keep these trends in mind and see which ones your friends use. Here are our top 10 wedding trends:

1. Texture Wedding Cakes. Get ready for pops of color and cakes that really show the couples’ personality. Soft ruffles and frills are in this year when it comes to wedding cakes,

2. Cascading bouquets and center pieces. Dahlias and hydrangeas make the perfect addition to this trend for 2014. Wedding florists Washington DC are perfect for ideas like this one when it comes to finding your perfect arrangements for your bouquet and centerpieces. It’s all about going outside the box with this trend. Thinking of overflowing flowers and lots of drama when it comes to this look.

3. Alternative Songs during the Ceremony. Say goodbye to tradition! This year is all about picking songs that aren’t your traditional “walk down the aisle” music. Pick something that means something to you and your future spouse. It’s time to make your memories a little more creative! Also, we recently went to a wedding where they had a surprise performance at the end of the ceremony from the band that played during the party...did not see that one coming!

4. Don’t forget about pink! 2014 is the year of the “blushing bride” in the most literal way. It’s all about nudes, blushes and peaches when it comes to wedding colors this year, especially when it comes to bridesmaids’ dresses. People aren’t afraid of being too sweet in 2014.

5. Looking for more places to add flowers in your wedding? Well look no further this year than on the wedding cake! Although 2014 is also about texture wedding cakes, a lot of people are choose to go naked this year with just a splash of flowers around the cake. It’s easy to add florist flowers to your wedding cake this year to use this trend to the fullest.

6. Surprise performances at the party. No more traditional bride and groom dances in the middle of the party to boring ballads. Couples are going BIG this year with choreographed dances and mixed songs that hold special meaning to them. It’s all about that video and photo op.

7. Time to get rid of the big envelopes. And big invitations for that matter! Weddings this year are more likely to come with a smaller 5x7 invitations unlike previous decades of overstated and oversized invitations. Also lots of couples are choosing to skip the money used on fancy invitations and instead head straight for an eCard.

8. Engagement photos are all the rage. Anyone else see a new album of Engagement photos of their friends posted on a weekly basis on Facebook? Soon after a proposal the next thing to expect is a photo shoot of engagement poses. These are must for 2014 and the perfect photos to use for your “Save the Date.

9. It’s all about the after party. Now this may not be a trend that’s as new this year but 2014 is all about making the party last forever. The midnight and 1am affairs are no longer long enough. It’s all about seeing which party can last the longest so if you are going to a wedding this year prepare to be up late!

10. Floral crowns. The easiest way to use this trend is in the flower girl at your wedding. It won’t stand out as much here as if your entire bridal party is wearing them but you can never have too many crowns at a wedding. It is a day meant to be remembered. Call a flower shop in dc for this floral arrangement and see what they come up with!
